Deloria Solus passed away on September 6, 2020, at the age of 89.
Born in Oklahoma to Bev and Sadie Early, she was the youngest of eight children. After the family moved to California, she attended school in Weed, graduating from Weed High School in 1948. She married Melvin Solus in 1949, and they went on to have four children. In 1957, they moved to Mount Shasta. She was employed as a cook at Weed Convalescent and Laurel Crest, as well as running her own catering business for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin, infant daughter Michelle, her parents and siblings. She is survived by her three sons: Robert Solus, Richard Solus (and wife Claris), and Kenneth Solus (and partner Larry Holben). She is also survived by five grandchildren: Brian Solus (and wife Natalie), Andrew Solus, Allison Blankenship (and husband Jered), Nathan Solus, and Wes Solus (and wife Heather), as well as nine great-grandchildren.
A Rite of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2020, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church at 701 Lassen Lane in Mount Shasta, California, at 10 a.m. Social distancing and use of masks will be observed. A committal service for family only will take place at Mount Shasta Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice of Mount Shasta, 914 Pine Street, Mount Shasta.
