Nancy Ann Doss, (Lee) was born to Frank Eldus and Rosalie Glendora Lee on February 26, 1941 in the town of Weed California. Nancy spent her initial years growing up in Weed however eventually moved to Sacramento where she completed middle and high schools, graduating in1959. Nancy met Robert,(Bob) Doss and they were married on April 1, 1959. After spending short periods of time in Dunsmuir and Red Bluff, CA., Nancy and Bob eventually settled in Chico were they would raise their two sons, Jim and John. Upon moving to Chico, Nancy furthered her education ultimately earning an LVN designation. Nancy was proud of her career choice working for several private medical practitioners over the years as well as working for over 17 years for Chico Community Hospital as a surgical nurse. In addition to her career, Nancy was a dedicated mother who often attended many of the sporting events her sons participated in. In 1990, Nancy and Bob moved back to Weed where they would retire however

Nancy did work an additional five years for Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta, also as a surgical nurse before retiring for good. Along with Bob, Nancy had a love for and enjoyed the outdoors as they spent much of their free time camping, fishing and hunting with family and friends. In the summer and fall months of the year, it was not uncommon for the two to travel to multiple western states to enjoy the outdoors. On those fishing trips, Nancy often would catch the largest fish of the vacation while everyone else spoke of “the one that got away”. Nancy also enjoyed playing cards, (pinochle, fish, crazy-eights...you name it), as well as spending countless hours working those 1000 piece picture puzzles that none of us have the patience for as well as solving volumes of mind twisting word games and word game puzzles. Nancy was accomplished and very creative at crochet, knitting, sewing and embroidery. She certainly could make that sewing machine hum. Upon Bob’s death in 2004, Nancy eventually moved to Redding to be closer to family and friends. Nancy was also preceded in death by her youngest son John in 2009. Nancy is survived by her son Jim and her daughter in-law Vicki. Nancy’s is also survived by her granddaughter Melissa and great grandchildren Amira and Orion. Nancy’s quick wit and sense of humor gained her many friends over the years and she will certainly be missed by all. An overwhelming sense of gratitude goes to the staff at Redding Hilltop Estates which Nancy called home since 2016. Additionally, a sincere thank you and appreciation to the staff at Mercy Hospice, (Ruth) and the Pink Lady care providers, (Carol). Your genuine care and support is invaluable. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no services held at this time.
