Obituary: Thomas Chamberlain

Thomas Chamberlain fondly called “Pa” by many friends and family, passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2020. Thomas was born in May 1938 in Idaho. His family moved to California in 1949 where Thomas met the love of his life, Naomi. Thomas was in 4th grade and Naomi was in 3rd grade. They went through grade school together and in high school they became boyfriend and girlfriend ultimately marrying in 1956. Thomas and Naomi were married 64-years at the time of his passing.

Thomas graduated McCloud High School in 1956 and immediately went to work in the timber industry where he worked in all aspects of harvesting timber for processing in the sawmill. In 1965 Thomas transitioned from the woods to working in the sawmill where he trained to be a saw filer. He spent the balance of his career as a head saw filer in several sawmills.

In retirement Thomas volunteered at Red Bluff Race Track, for 12-years as an assistant to the drivers, including his grandson Karl Pavlik Jr. Thomas is preceded in death by his father James, mother Agnes (Aikele) and son Dennis. He is survived by his wife Naomi of Happy Valley, son Richard “Rick” (Kathy) of Sutherlin, Oregon and daughter Gayle Watson (Steve Sr.) of Redding, California, 8 grandchildren, Marlana, Karl Jr., Andrew, Stacey, Lana, Christy, Samantha, Justin, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great- great-grandchildren, brother James “Jimmy” formerly of McCloud, and sister Josephine “Jo” of Half Moon Bay, California.

Thomas never met a stranger. He brought wonderful humor and wisdom to every situation. He will always be loved and sorely missed by all. We love you husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, great-great grandpa, uncle, brother and friend.
