The McCloud Elementary School Hawks basketball boys’ and girls’ teams played against the Shasta Valley Wolves on Wednesday,  Jan 29.  

 Jerome Walker made the first basket for the Hawks boy’s squad. Nathaniel Mero was the high scorer of the game with 16 points. Tobee Tillemans made a 3-pointer from half-court. Isaiah Castellon, though he played aggressively, gave his shots up for his teammates to get a chance to shoot. Dalton Young played hard defense, as did Hayden Williams.  

McCloud won the game 40-22.

The McCloud girls’ game was a close one, with both teams playing very aggressively. The Hawks kept close to the Wolves, who led the 6-4 at the end of the first quarter. Shasta led 10-5 at the half.

The Hawks tried to catch up and actually got ahead in the third quarter but the Wolves started scoring and kept the lead, with the Wolves leading 16-13 at the end of the quarter and won the contest 17-15.

Savannah Henson scored 13 points for McCloud.
