Mount. Shasta's Alexis Ramirez and Drew Hering had another 1-2 finish. This time Ramirez edged teammate Drew Hering by 3 seconds, with Alexis registering a 13:29 time and Drew finishing in 13:32.
Three South County high schools travelled to Weaverville on Friday, Oct. 25 and their runners put up some fast times in the Trinity Invitational.
Mount. Shasta’s Alexis Ramirez and Drew Hering had another 1-2 finish. This time Ramirez edged teammate Drew Hering by 3 seconds, with Alexis registering a 13:29 time and Drew finishing in 13:32.
Hering has frequently been racing after playing soccer the day before for the Bears. With the soccer playoffs wrapping up this week, he will be fresher for the upcoming SCL and Northern Section meets.
Ryan Mitchell of Weed H.S. took fifth place in the 2.5 mile varsity race, notching a 14:37 time.
Mt. Shasta frosh Sylva Carpenter finished sixth in the 2.5 mile varsity girls race with in 18:10 .
Another 9th-grader who ran well was Izick Hernandez of Dunsmuir. He ran second in the 2.1 mile frosh-soph race in 12:37, a six minute per mile pace that would have landed him in the top-ten in the varsity race.
