The Mount Shasta Bears varsity boys basketball team went 2-2 this past week.

“We played well overall,” head coach Chris Galarsa said.

Mount Shasta opened the week with a 50-48 win against larger division school Anderson at home on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Thursday, MSHS opened play at their home event, the 50th Annual Mt. Shasta Holiday Tournament with a convincing 71-40 win against McCloud. Friday, the bears fell to Klamath Union 57-51 and lost in the third place game Saturday to Yreka. 52-40 to fall to 3-4 for the year.   Against Anderson, Avery May led the Bears with 13 points versus McCloud, Anthony Pigoni had 13 points,  while Kayden Crisci  had 10. Friday against Klamath Union, Matthew Ellerbe  finished with 22 points, .
Against Yreka  Kyle  Ellorin and  D.J. Brown each finished with eight points apiece.   Coach Galarsa said while the team only has one member from last year’s squad, they are making progress and believes they certainly have the potential to fare well this season. The Bears are deep this year with 16 players on the roster.   This week, Mount Shasta hosted Los Molinos Tuesday night, winning by two. The Bears will be in Susanville at Lassen High School for a tournament starting on Friday.
