The Weed Cougars varsity boys basketball team placed second at the Anderson Invitational last Saturday.

The D6 Cougars faced D1 Kennedy of Sacramento in the title game and lost 56-39 to fall to 9-2 for the year. The Cougars defeated D4 squads Central Valley 56-43 last Friday and West Valley 68-54 on  last Thursday.Weed next play on the road Jan. 7 at Burney.

The Cougars junior varsity team won the championship at a tournament in Burney on Saturday. Weed downed  Butte Valley 43-26.Nathan Kephart had 16 points, while  Brandonn Cordes Jr. had 10, Both were named to the All-Tourney team along with Patrick Hill, Kobe Chanthavisouk was named MYP. On Friday, the Cougars JV squad defeated Burney 42-29 and Fall River 41-25 on Thursday.
