College of the Siskiyous opens Golden Valley Conference play tonight at Shasta College in Redding. The men play at 5 p.m., while the women have a 7 p.m. start.

The College of the Siskiyous Eagles women and men's basketball teams open Golden Valley Conference play Wednesday night at Shasta College in Redding.

The men’s game begins at 5 p.m., while the women’s contest has a 7 p.m. start.

The COS women are 12-6 for the year, while Shasta comes in at 12-5  Last year, COS won the GVC title outright for the eighth straight year. Saturday night, the Lady Eagles downed Mendocino on the road by a score of 75-43.

The GVC will be tough this season, with all six teams having winning records. Lassen is 15-3, Butte is 14-3, while Redwoods is 12-3 and Feather River 9-7.

The COS men are 6-11 overall, while Shasta comes in at 9-9 overall. Thursday night, the COS men fell at Mendocino by a score of 86-77. Montell Willis led the Eagles with 23 points.

Mount Shasta High grads Jett Snure and Kody Bauman both scores in double figures for the Eagles. Snure had 12 points and nine rebounds, while Bauman chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds. Bishop Thomas finished with 10 points.
