The McCloud High School boys and girls basketball teams hosted the Surprise Valley Hornets in Evergreen League action Friday night.

The Logger boys defeated the Hornets 46-37. McCloud led 10-8 after one and extended the lead to 22-12 at the half. The Loggers kept the Hornets in check in the second half to earn the nine-point victory.

David Wolfe had a monster game for McCloud and finished with 31 points, including three 3-pointers. He also had 11 rebounds, seven steals, two assists, and two blocks. Travis Blumel had six points, six steals, three rebounds and to assists.

McCloud improved to 3-7 overall and 2-1 in the Evergreen League.

In the girl's game, a 15-0 deficit in the first quarter proved too much to overcome for the Lady Loggers.  While McCloud outscored Surprise Valley the next three quarter the squad fell by five points.

Alisha Walker had 10 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and three blocks.  Mercy LeTourneau finished with eight points including two 3-pointers. She had six rebounds, four steals, three assists, and two blocks.

McCloud fell to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the league.

This week, both McCloud teams were set to play at Butte Valley on Thursday, weather dependent. McCloud is at Happy Camp next Tuesday.
