This week, the Lady Bears home game versus Modoc on Tuesday was called off due to the weather. it will now be played on Tuesday, Jan. 28. The Mount Shasta games at Trinity Thursday were called off due to the weather and will be played on Wed. Jan. 29.

The Mount Shasta Lady Bears varsity basketball team fell to the Fall River Lady Bulldogs in the Shasta Cascade League opener on the road Saturday night 46-32.

Head coach Kirk Andrus said that the squad's young guards struggled with the press initiated by the Lady Bulldogs in the first half. While Mount Shasta outscored Fall River in the second half, being outscored in the second quarter by 10 points proved too great a margin to overcome, coach Andrus said.

Yuki Cannon led MSHS with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Mount Shasta fell to 6-10 overall.

On Tuesday, Jan. 7, Mount Shasta faced Durham on the road. The Lady Bears led throughout the game until Durham bounced back and scored the final basket to win 36-35

”We led that entire game until the last basket,” Andrus said.

Cannon finished with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Grace Bradley had six points for MSHS.

In the junior varsity games, MSHS lost to Durham 27-22, and to Fall River 43-13 to drop to 6-7 for the year.
