Freshman Drew Dutton, nicknamed “The Grasshopper,” due to his high jumping skills, started with a 3-pointer in the first quarter as he jumped over the closing Tulelake players

The first quarter ended 19-10, with the Loggers sustaining the wide gap throughout the game. By the end of the second quarter, McCloud lead by 17 points, going into halftime with a 38-21 advantage

. The Loggers maintained their lead, as the third quarter ended with McCloud up 50-39. The scoreboard went out during the fourth quarter, causing a delay in the game. When the game resumed, the 61-23. The Loggers added 19 more points to their score, beating the Honkers by 14.

Junior Zach Dutton was the high scorer on the team with 27 points, including two 3-pointers and grabbing 21 rebounds. He also finished with five assists, three blocks, and two steals. Senior David Wolfe finished with 17 points, including connecting on two 3-pointers, along with six rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.

Drew Dutton had 14 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals for the Loggers. Junior Travis Blumel made seven steals during the contest for McCloud. He finished with six points, two rebounds, and two assists.

The McCloud girls weren’t able to play Friday due to a multiple of injuries acquired during their last game the night before against Butte Valley on the road and had to forfeit the contest. The Lady Loggers lost to Butte Valley 39-23.

Junior Mercy LeTourneau finished with 19 points and four steals. Junior Alisha Walker had four points, seven rebounds, and two steals.

On Tuesday, Jan. 21, the Lady Loggers won for the first time this season with a 42-38 win at Happy Camp. LeTourneau finished with 22 points, including three 3-pointers, five assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Walker contributed 12 points and nine rebounds. Senior Cara Major had four points, and two rebounds, while junior Kathleen Hunt finished with eight rebounds. Freshman Ema Walsh grabbed 16 rebounds and had four points.

On Thursday versus Butte Valley, the McCloud boys lost to the Bulldogs 66-49. Zach Dutton put up 33 of McCloud's 49 points. He made four 3-pointers and had 10 rebounds and two blocks. Wolfe finished with 10 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.

On Tuesday, Jan. 21, McCloud fell at Happy Camp 56-51. Zach Dutton again played an outstanding game in the loss. He finished with 28 points, with two 3-pointers, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Wolfe chipped in 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Blumel had six points on two 3-pointers and three steals. Drew Dutton finished with five points, three rebounds and two steals.

This week, both McCloud squads hosted Hayfork Monday night. The boys fell 58-42.

Zach Dutton finished with 19 points, including three 3-pointers, and 16 rebounds while Wolfe had 10 points as he sank in three 3-pointers.

The McCloud girls lost to Hayfork 61-23. Walker finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, while LeTourneau had nine points.

Both Loggers teams took on Happy Camp at home Tuesday night. The McCloud boys lost 61-58 to drop to 3-5 in league and 4-11 overall. The Lady Loggers lost to Happy Camp36-32 to fall to 1-7 overall and 1-6 in league. On Friday, the Loggers are at Tulelake and host Butte Valley next Tuesday.
