This week, the Cougars hosted Trinity on Tuesday, winning the contest 70-48. Weed is now a sterling 15-3 for the season and 6-1 in the SCL. The Cougars have a big game against Fall River on the road this Friday. The Bulldogs are also 6-1 in the SCL after downing Etna at home 63-25 on Tuesday.

The Weed Cougars varsity boys basketball team had little trouble with the Etna Lions on the road Friday night, winning the contest 62-22.

With the victory, the Cougars are in a tie for first place in the Shasta Cascade League with Fall River, which lost to Mount Shasta 69-59 on Friday.

Up 27-14 at the half, the Cougars allowed the Lions to score a paltry eight points in the second half to earn the 40 point victory.

Grant Lane finished with 18 points, while Dallas Lane put up 14 for WHS.

The Cougars lost the junior varsity contest in a highly contested 56-55 battle. Brandon Cordes led the Cougars with 26 points, Julio Garcia finished with eight points, and Nathan Kephart and Kobe Chanthavisouk each finished with seven points apiece.
