This week, both McCloud teams hosted Big Valley on Tuesday. The McCloud boys won 62-58, while the Lady Loggers fell by the score of 56-42. Both McCloud teams end the regular season at Surprise Valley Friday. The Tigers were at Butte Valley Tuesday, losing 66-56, and end the regular season on Thursday at Big Valley.

The Dunsmuir Tigers boys basketball team lost Friday’s home Evergreen League game against the McCloud Loggers by a score of 71-57.

The contest started off with equal scoring ending the 1st quarter 22-20 with McCloud in the lead. But the gap grew in the second quarter with McCloud leading 33-29 at the half.  

The Loggers pulled ahead in the third quarter gaining 19 more points to the Tigers 7, ending 51-36. There was a lot of stealing by both teams in this fast pace game. Both of these rival schools worked hard for every point. As the game progressed so did the spread between the Loggers and the Tigers. The tension was palpable at the beginning of the 4th quarter as the Tigers tightened the spread but quickly lost ground with McCloud dominating the court and beating the Tigers 71- 57.

On the McCloud team, Boaz dominated the first two quarters scoring 17 points, with all but one basket being three-pointers. Zach Dutton and David Wolfe scored many inside baskets, Dutton dominating the first half along with 20 rebounds and five steals and Wolfe the second half of the game with 14 rebounds.

Ramon Strandberg was the high scorer on the Dunsmuir team with 18 points. Jasper Mitchell scored 17, Noah Snell had 10. Stephen Duarte finished with five points, while  Chris Holland had four, and Robert Holland three.  

Prior to the beginning of the game, a moment of silence was held in honor of former Los Angeles Lakers great, Kobe Bryan,  who passed away on Jan. 26 in a helicopter crash.

During halftime, Dunsmuir held their Winter Coronation with Senior Stephen Duarte becoming king and Sophomore Ella Marie Rohde being named Queen.  

Last Tuesday, McCloud fell at home to Butte Valley 55-53 and lost at Big Valley on Thursday 67-57. The Lady Loggers forfeited their game versus Butte Valley and lost to Big Valley 43-40.

This week, both McCloud teams hosted Big Valley on Tuesday.  The McCloud boys won 62-58, while the Lady Loggers fell by the score of 56-42. Both McCloud teams end the regular season at Surprise Valley Friday. The Logger boys are 6-14 overall and 5-8 in league.

Dunsmuir downed Surprise Valley on the road last Tuesday 65-64.
