This week, the Siskiyous U19 squad hosted Tehama at home Tuesday night and dominated, winning 12-1.
The U19 squad will be at a three day-tournament in Medford starting on Thursday.

The Siskiyous American Legion Post 122 U19 baseball teams opened the 2020 season this past week at Hibbard Field in Yreka.

Due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, it was unclear if there would be an American Legion season until about two weeks ago, with both Siskiyous squads practicing for two weeks in preparation for the season.

The U19 and U17 teams consist of 33 players from throughout Siskiyou County, as well as Fall River High School in McArthur.

The U19 squad faced Tehama in a scrimmage Wednesday at home at Hibbard Field in Yreka. They hosted a tough Medford Mustangs team in the regular-season opener Friday and lost 15-0. Saturday, Siskiyous headed up to Oregon to face the Mustangs in a doubleheader, falling 11-6 and 9-5.

Medford improved to 7-0.

Siskiyous U19 head coach Mark Zeigler said he saw a number of positives from his squad and things they still need to work on, such as being more consistent and reducing mistakes.

“It’s going to take a little time to get used to playing again,” he said.”We're going to keep working and we’re going to get better.”
