Mount Shasta plans a sizzling July 4th weekend

On Wednesday July 2 and Thursday July 3 walkers and runners will be able to register for the July 4 run/walk sponsored by the Mountain Runners of Mount Shasta and pick up their T-shirts from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the National Guard Armory located at 618 Everitt Memorial Highway.

From 6:30 to 8 a.m. on Friday July 4 it will be possible to register and pick up pre-registration packages on Mount Shasta Blvd next to Halford’s Antiques.

An all you can eat $7 pancake breakfast will be held at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall in Mount Shasta the morning of the race  from 6:30 to 11 a.m.

The Mountain Runners Walk/Run event is scheduled to begin at 8:30 am at the Castle Street starting line.

The downtown 4th of July parade is set to start at noon on Mount Shasta Boulevard. The theme of the parade is “Memories of the Past, Visions of the Future.”

Participants and spectators are being requested not to bring pets into the downtown area.

The fireworks display is scheduled to start at 9:15 p.m. on Friday the 4th. The Mount Shasta Resort Green opens at 4 p.m. for community appreciation day. The band Rock-It will perform. Admission is $2 per person with the proceeds going to support the Fireworks Fund. Food and drinks will be available. No coolers or pets are allowed.

Lake Siskiyou Camp Resort is also available for viewing the fireworks. Admission is $1.00 per person. No pets please.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday there will be street vendors selling crafts and food in the downtown area.

Live entertainment will be featured on the Castle Street stage on Saturday and Sunday.

On Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm there will be a Climbing Rock at the Mount Shasta Shopping Center.

On Saturday Zippedy the Clown will be performing throughout the day at the Stage Door.

On Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Mount Shasta City Park the Coffee Connection is sponsoring a free family oriented  A Day In The Son event with live music and food.

The 24th annual quilt show sponsored by the Sisson Museum will be on display from Wednesday July 2 through Sunday July 6 during the hours of 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the museum located at 1 N. Old Stage Rd. adjacent to the Fish Hatchery. The museum is free and the telephone number is 926-5508.
