Singer/pianist/songwriter Kathy Zavada will be offering a concert in Mt. Shasta at The Stage Door this Friday, Oct. 24 at 8:30 p.m.

Zavada’s CD “Journey Home”  was voted in the top-10 best new age CD’s by Amazon.com. Her newest CD “Return to Love” ranked in the top 50 most played CD’s on National Public Radio.

Zavada makes her home in Mt. Shasta, CA, and tours nationally sharing her music in public concerts and festivals.  She is also an inspirational speaker who offers talks in a variety of venues.

Recently Zavada became  assistant music director/minister at a large Inter-faith spiritual center in Sacramento, CA.

She divides her time between Mt. Shasta and serving in a ministerial and musical capacity at Spiritual Life Center in Sacramento.

Zavada recorded her debut album “Heart Space” in 1989 and has since recorded 8 more CDs on her own label, Precious Music.

Her latest CD “Return To Love” was produced by Billy Oskay, who produced three gold records for Windham Hill Music.

Zavada’s music is used for many healing modalities, according to a press release. She has given numerous programs in private boarding schools for troubled teenagers, to help the children relate to positive and supportive music through singing programs and workshops which incorporate live music.

Her music is used in the Hospice setting to support the terminally ill and their families.

Zavada has opened in Mt. Shasta for Christopher Cross and John Jorgenson, Elton John’s guitarist. She is also regularly invited to sing for the programs of Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma), known as the Hugging Saint, who won the Ghandi-King award for Non-Violence.

“It is a great gift to be able to share music that brings healing and joy...” Zavada says. “I consider it a privilege... music has a way of by-passing the mind and going straight to the heart like few other things can... and I think in the world today, we are all hungry for something that truly touches our hearts and gives us hope in our humanity...”

The Stage Door, located at 414 North Mt. Shasta Blvd., will be offering numerous dinner specials preceding the concert, which is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. Concert tickets are $12 at the door.
