Scandal's second season is really living up to its name.

Not only has the President of the United States (Tony Goldwyn) asked his wife (Bellamy Young) for a divorce so he can finally be with his mistress (Kerry Washington), but it turns out that he shouldn't even be the POTUS in the first place since Olivia and the rest of the Illuminati rigged the election that put him in the White House. (And here you thought the mystery of Quinn Perkins was a huge secret!)

Scandal Postmortem: Shonda Rhimes answers burning questions!

So what happens next? TVGuide.com caught up with executive producer Shonda Rhimes and the Scandal stars to get your burning questions answered:

Will OPA discover the truth about the rigged election?

Yes, and much sooner than you'd think! "Everybody has a very different reaction based on their relationship with Olivia," Rhimes says. "Some of them are people who don't question; some of them have been suspicious all along." The question remains whether they'll still be able to trust their fearless leader once the truth comes out. "Is she the same person for them because she doesn't necessarily wear the white hat they thought she did? That definitely comes into play for some of them," Rhimes adds.

How far will the Illuminati go to protect the election-rigging secret?

That will be the cause of some upcoming strife for them now that more and more people are discovering the truth (see above). "There's a splintering of the Illuminati a little bit in terms of everybody's agendas, what they're all willing to do and who they feel is to blame," Rhimes says. "It gets more complex from there and it becomes more fractured as it goes along. It starts to feel, for Olivia, that maybe this is the one problem that she can't fix."

Scandal Postmortem: What's next for Fitz? Tony Goldwyn speaks!

Will Fitz actually get a divorce?

He is certainly going to try! But don't expect POTUS to get any support on this matter. "No one!" Goldwyn says with a laugh. "It's insane, and Fitz acknowledges that it's insane. There's nobody who's saying, 'Yeah!' It's like setting off a bomb in the Oval Office that the President is going to get divorced while in office." Surely Olivia will be in his corner, right? "She will be very surprised," Goldwyn adds. "It puts a lot of pressure on her."

What lengths will Mellie go to in order to stop the divorce?

"Mellie won't go down without a fight," Young says. "He can't divorce Mellie. It's not allowed. Fitz wanting a divorce is like a pebble in her road. She will handle it. Mellie will use anything in her disposal to convince of him of this." You may be surprised to learn that both Cyrus (Jeff Perry) and Olivia will come to her aid in trying to make Fitz see the light.

Will America's baby change his mind?

It may be the only thing that can stop his desire for a divorce, but that doesn't mean it will. "The baby is a big emotional issue so that certainly weighs on Fitz a lot and there will be one of the big issues -- and I can't say whether it's decisive or not -- but it's a big factor," Goldwyn says. "But Fitz has had a moment of clarity by almost losing his life and he's done fooling around."

Will we ever meet Olivia's parents?

After a fantastic and enlightening performance by Barry Bostwick as Fitz's father, it seems like it's only a matter of time before we meet the parents of Olivia, which should shed light on how she came to be who she is today. "I've given some thought about it," Rhimes says. "Will we see them? Possibly. This season? I don't know. It depends on if they're necessary. It will be very illuminating when we finally see them."

Do you hope Fitz and Olivia get back together? Who do you think should play Olivia's parents?

Scandal airs Thursdays at 10/9c on ABC.
