TV Show Recaps - Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Tuesday, March 26, 2013

TV Guide

After two weeks of performances, Dancing with the Stars finally cuts its first couple. Did D.L. and Cheryl bite it? Or did someone else get the boot?

We get right down to business, but major warning: The ballroom is not for the hearing impaired. Brooke has to reread names three times before anyone can hear her over the crowd. Everybody, simma down now!

First three safe couples:

Ingo and Kym

Sean and Peta

Wynonna and Tony

Victor and Lindsay are in jeopardy. If they don't go home, I wouldn't be surprised if they are in the real bottom two. Victor wasn't terrible, but he was no standout either. Also, he went early both weeks, and has two strikes against him: a newbie pro with no established fan base and not being a big mainstream name himself.

The second group is up after Zendaya and Val get the Twitter-voted encore. Are they going to let Twitter votes determine all the encores? Because that's probably going to be monopolized by, like, three couples.

Next two safe couples:

Aly and Mark

D.L. and Cheryl

Yes, D.L. will live to dance again. Neither of them can believe it and they both fall to the floor. If you ask me, it was D.L.'s Whitney and Bobby joke that saved them. Obviously.

Lisa and Gleb are in jeopardy, but not before she hits on Len. Everyone always wants what they can't have.

Next three safe couples:

Zendaya and Val

Kellie and Derek

Jacoby and Karina

No duh. Can we just do these guys at the beginning of the results shows now?

After Josh Groban performs, with an assist from Chelsie and Dmitry (we will never see him as a pro again, will we?), the final two pairs hit the Red Light of Doom.

Next safe couple:

Dorothy and Tristan

That means Andy and Sharna are in jeopardy, but they are soon declared safe. Dorothy and Tristan do not react at all to being safe and we immediately learn why: She has to withdraw on the advice of her spine surgeon, otherwise she'd suffer irreparable damage.

"It would be completely unfair for me to stay in this," she tearfully says. "I can't do [Tristan] justice and these are the most amazing people who want to be here and it's not that I don't want to be here. I want to give it my all, but I can't."

"There's something a lot bigger going on than this competition," Tristan says.

Bummer. I love me some Olympians and some Tristan. This is the second straight season he's the first elimination, but health comes first. Get better, Dorothy, and keep spinning on and off the ice.

So either Victor and Lindsay or Lisa and Gleb - who were the actual bottom two - gets a one-week reprieve. "Use it wisely," Tom advises.

What do you think? Are you sad Dorothy had to withdraw? How far do you think she could've gone? Who do you think would've gone had she not pulled out? Are D.L. and Cheryl Whitney and Bobby or Pat and Tiffany? Have you done the Murgalo? Who's your current pick to win?
