TV Show Recaps - Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Tuesday, April 2, 2013
Dancing with the Stars boots its second couple - or should we say first after Dorothy's withdrawal last week? Did Wynonna and D.L. overcome their low scores? And who got two extra points?
Who's leaving? Who cares?! More important matters at hand: crowning the Twitter-voted prom king and queen, who each get two extra points. And they are... Jacoby and Zendaya. Shocker! Not. As if they'd be anyone else than a crowd-pleasing Super Bowl champ and a teen queen with 2 million Twitter followers. Both of them are also safe.
Neither of them gets the encore though. That, by Bruno's demand, goes to Sean and Peta only so Bruno can fulfill his dream and get leathered-out as the biker in their "YMCA" lineup. Shameless, just shameless. Not just Bruno, but the egregious Sean pimping. Sean = fetch. Not gonna happen.
Next two safe couples:
Kellie and Derek
D.L. and Cheryl
Yes, D.L. is still in it, but not before he gets his undies all in a twist after Len says that he would've scored him lower on re-watch. For someone who likes to dish it out (and often not well), D.L. sure can't take it. I am fine with him staying. He can't dance, but he did way more dancing than Wynonna did.
Next safe couples:
Sean and Peta
Victor and Lindsay
Lisa and Gleb, and Andy and Sharna are in jeopardy.
One of the better fluff pieces follows: Men Vs. Women: Who Has It Harder on the Show? The numbers: Women celebrities have earned more perfect scores and have a higher average, but men celebrities have won more Mirrorballs (eight to seven). All the pros' claws come out to defend the other sex, and Val, Derek and Mark awesomely call out the judges for rewarding male celebs more for personality than the females. So true. Guys get can away with the goofiest things on the show and be loved for it, but not the ladies. Double standards exist in the ballroom too!
Next two safe couples:
Aly and Mark
Ingo and Kym
Wynonna and Tony are in jeopardy. Lisa and Gleb are safe, which means Andy and Sharna, and Wynonna and Tony are the bottom two.
And the couple going home is... Wynonna and Tony.
Can't argue with this one. I am slightly surprised that her fan base didn't pull her through, but maybe they saw the hopeless cause too. Tony, you're a good dude. Maybe one day you'll get another good partner not of a certain age and not named Melissa Rycroft. Wait, who are we kidding?
What did you think? Was Wynonna the right call? Will Tony ever get another good contender? Do Jacoby and Zendaya deserve to be prom king and queen? Who do you think has it harder on the show: men or women? How desperately does Bruno want Sean to hand him a rose? Who's your current pick to win?
