Today's News: Our Take - Girls Gone Wild Founder Joe Francis Sentenced to Jail, Anger Management
Francis, 40, was also sentenced to 36 months probation. Additionally, he must complete a Level 3 anger management course as well as one year of psychological counseling at the rate of one session per week.
During the sentencing, the judge expressed concern about Francis' temper and warned that it may get him into more trouble in the future if he does not take steps to control it now. Bond was set at $250,000.
Francis was convicted in May 2013 on charges of assault, three counts of false imprisonment and one count of dissuading a witness from reporting after he allegedly took three women to his Hollywood home following a night out and refused to let them leave. He is also accused of attacking one of the three women - specifically choke-slamming her head into his tile floor.
Before being sentenced on Tuesday, Francis' attorney tried to request a retrial because he alleged that the women who testified in the case lied during the trial. The motion was denied.
Francis made headlines weeks after being convicted when he called the jury that found him guilty "mentally f---ing retarded" and said they "should all be lined up and shot" in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. One day later, he apologized and said he "deeply regret" his remarks.
Earlier this year, the company behind Girls Gone Wild filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
