Today's News: Our Take - Mega Buzz: S.H.I.E.L.D. Crossover, Following Flame & Scandal's Next Mystery
NATALIE: If you haven't yet seen Thor: The Dark World, you may want to put that on your to-do list this weekend or you might be a little lost during next week's episode. "The story centers around an Asgardian relic," Brett Dalton tells me. "As for how it affects the team ... I'm hoping it gives me Chris Hemsworth arms." Seconded.
Is it too soon to ask for scoop on The Following? Will Claire be back this season? - Jessica
ADAM: Natalie Zea's role remains a bit of a question mark, especially given the Comic-Con teaser footage that suggests a grim fate for Claire. Another bad sign? Ryan, who has quit drinking and is teaching criminology, has totally got a new lady in his life! "There's a crime, a really scary attack on a subway, and she's a victim," Kevin Bacon says of Connie Nielsen's character. "I meet her... and I am just taken by her." In fact, even though Ryan is in better physical shape this year, his judgment may still be off. "She's worldly, has an appreciation of art, is just kind of this dynamic creature," Bacon says. "I'm not out looking for love, but something about her just draws me in. She is, in a lot of ways, similar to the way I feel about Joe." In other words, she's a cold-blooded killer too?
I'm happy we finally got Harrison's backstory on Scandal. Do you have any scoop on what's next? -Hayley
NATALIE: Suffice it to say, Adnan Salif is not going to disappear, which will severely affect Harrison. "Harrison is completely consumed and stricken with an impending doom [about] Salif's arrival into the country," Columbus Short says, teasing that we will find out how Cyrus uncovered Harrison's Kryptonite. Still, Short is pleased to finally get info on his character, even if it leads to disastrous results. "I was cautiously optimistic at first, given that a character's backstory could ultimately lead to getting killed off," he says. Ruh-roh.
Any hints about who survives the explosion on The Mentalist? - Eric
ADAM: Spoiler alert: Jane lives! In all seriousness, the blast does take out a significant number of Red John suspects, and before Sunday's episode is over, Jane and Lisbon will go public with who they believe to be the serial killer. But it can't be that easy. And of course, it won't be: Look for Rockmond Dunbar to make his first appearance in the episode's waning moments. (Hint: He's not there to make friends.)
Got any scoop on American Horror Story: Coven? - Tim
NATALIE: There's a mole inside the coven who's actually a witch hunter! We'll learn his or her identity this week, but we already got a big clue as to whom is betraying the coven. Said person has already taken the life of a witch. Any guesses?
ADAM: Not well, as you might imagine. "We're talking real damage here," executive producer Jonathan Nolan tells us, hinting that someone may act out as a way to deal with his or her grief. "For the first time, a number comes up [and] the perpetrator might be one of our own team. That's a fresh wrinkle on our show and points to the fallout from all of these events." Even worse, the team may no longer be able to rely on each other. "It will pull the team apart a little bit," Nolan says. "This season is about uncertainty and sacrifice, and we're kind of out in the wild blue yonder in the second half of the season."
What's the deal with Robin Hood and Regina on Once Upon a Time? - Maggie
NATALIE: As of two weeks ago when I was on set, Lana Parrilla told me nothing had come up in scripts between the two of them, but she expected it to happen toward the end of the season - though it might not be as easy as we'd all hope. "She's closed her heart off to any romance," Parrilla says. "She doesn't look at anyone with lust or desire. But I do hope that Regina opens her heart again to love. It's been many, many years. As much as she loves Henry, he can only fill that void for so long before he moves on and has a life of his own separate from her." Do you want to see Regina and Robin Hood together?
Any scoop on Nashville? - Wesley
ADAM: Wedding bells are ringing this week for Peggy and Teddy, but don't count on a happily-ever-after just yet. After all, Peggy is lying to Teddy about being pregnant with his child after she miscarried. "She's trying to get pregnant, but it's not working," Kimberly Williams-Paisley says. "She's in crunch time. She gets a little cray-cray." How cray-cray, you ask? We hear she will go to disturbing lengths tokeep her secret from coming out." (Aside: Have you seen this?)
Will Leslie Knope get recalled on Parks and Recreation? - Jarett
NATALIE: I'm not going to ruin the surprise for you, but prepare to be shocked at the outcome of the recall vote in this week's episode. But first, Leslie will do everything in her power to get a leg up in the recall election, including filibustering while on roller skates. Seriously. But her campaigning could be her ultimate downfall.
What can you tell me about the serial killer targeting Lanie and Esposito on Castle? Is it 3XK? - Diana
ADAM: Great minds think alike! When I asked creator Andrew W. Marlowe if the elusive Triple Killer - last (not) seen after Castle shot him in Season 5 - was again taunting the team at the 12th Precinct, he didn't exactly say no. "Clearly, that's something we're going to talk about in the episode," he says. "From Beckett's point of view, 3XK is dead; from Castle's point of view, he's still out there. The specter of that always hangs in the back of folks' head when they see people targeted." The question, Marlowe insists, is why would 3XK be targeting Lanie and Esposito? Anyone have any guesses?
Loving The Crazy Ones. What's coming up? - Cherish
NATALIE: Sydney will inadvertently start dating the famous Mr. Finger (Ed Asner), a commercial star who fronted one of Simon's early campaigns about a dust cleaner. While Sydney frets over how to extricate herself without hurting an old man's feelings, she'll be shocked to discover that Mr. Finger may actually be the dirty one.
Any more scoop about Criminal Minds' 200th episode? - Leo
ADAM: Well, first of all, don't miss the last few minutes of the 199th, because it will feature a perilous cliff-hanger involving JJ that will force Cruz to come clean about their past. "At the beginning of the 200th, the team... has to figure out how to help her," showrunner Erica Messer tells us. "JJ is the victim of the episode." And how does Prentiss figure in? She'll be seen in the present and the past in the flashback-heavy episode.
Adam's Mega Rave: If you're one of those people who gave up on Boardwalk Empire two seasons ago, you're missing out on its best season yet. If the payoff is half as good as the build-up, we're in for a humdinger of a finale.
