The Farr Side: A visit from pop culture, 2015
’Twas the night before Christmas, from another eventful year.
Not a creature more blurring than that of Caitlyn Jenner.
It began when “1989” totally popped for Taylor Swift,
But knock, knock “Hello”, it ended with Adele’s new gift.
Minions and Muppets were at the top of their game,
While Jared Fogle brought Subway to shame.
Now that “Glee” is over, and “Mad Men” bid adieu,
The cancellation of “Mike & Molly” came out of the blue.
With Luscious and Cookie, Fox created a huge new “Empire,”
It was NBC telling The Donald, “You’re Fired!”
Being bad has not stopped Republican Trump,
With each new poll, the Presidential hopeful goes up a bump!
The ratings for “Idol” continued their downward spiral,
But dousing yourself with ice cold water made celebs go viral.
Shonda Rhimes killed off “Grey’s” McDreamy,
And Viola Davis dazzled making Emmy history.
Miranda and Blake called it quits during the summer,
As did Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale — what a bummer!
Now Blake and Stefani are together on “The Voice,”
Their unlikely publicized relationship was not my first choice.
The Patriots’ Tom Brady and rumors of deflate-gate start a-flyin’
As singer Katy Perry rocks the Super Bowl riding a mechanical lion!
Carrie Underwood gives birth to a beautiful baby boy,
Kelly Clarkson announces she’s having another bundle of joy.
The U.S. Supreme Court legalizes same-sex marriages across the land,
Zayn Malik calls it quits, making One Direction a four-man band.
Cecil the lion is killed, causing much publicized controversy,
Planes shot down, or go missing, one even lost at sea.
Who lives to fight another day on “Game Of Thrones?”
Amazon.com pursues the right to deliver goods using drones.
Unrest in Ferguson, leaves cops and residents in turmoil,
Gas prices dropped dramatically due to the decreasing cost of oil.
Star Wars is back and bigger than ever,
A cast so diverse, J.J. Abrams was so very clever.
SNL turned 40 with a big televised she-bang,
Katy Perry topped Forbes racking in $135 mil — Dang!
Bill Cosby saw his career and legacy go down the drain,
Woman after woman came forward, tarnishing his
Brian Williams lied on the news and fell from grace,
All this, while Lady Gaga continued her about-face.
B.B. King, Wes Craven, Scott Weiland, and Mr. Spock will be missed,
2015 will be remembered more for Sheldon and Amy finally kissed!
The year is almost over and 2016 is now in sight,
Happy New Year to all, and to all a good-night!
