On the road in support of her ninth release, singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist Jill Cohn is scheduled to play a free solo show at Mt. Shasta Brewing Company in Weed on Sunday, Aug. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m.

An independent touring artist since 1996, this will be Cohn's first date in Weed. She has previously played in Mount Shasta, Dunsmuir and Yreka.

Her new CD, "Beautiful I Love You," has been called a "hopeful collection of lushly produced love songs" and was a Top 10 indie pick in a Los Angeles area newspaper earlier this year. It was produced by Martin Feveyear, who also produced Brandi Carslie and Rosie Thomas and worked with Cohn on several of her earlier works.

Cohn is known for diverse stylings and heart-string-tugging ballads that intermingle with humorous/quirky brighter side of things.

She has opened for Jewel and Dave Matthews, and her recordings have been used in the popular TV shows "Smallville" and the MTV/UK hit "Skins."

"Beautiful I Love You," according to a press release, is "a collection of lush ambient songs that take a whimsical and somewhat bitter-sweet look inside long distance love affairs, relocation and a traveling girl's solo adventures in a man's world."
