Some of the Mona Lisa copies created by painters in the Balos Atelier group in Mount Shasta.

So far, the names of the actual artists in the Mona Lisa Forgery Show at The Gallery in Mt. Shasta have remained a mystery.

That is scheduled to change April 19 during an "artist reveal" reception from 5 to 7 p.m., which will include an introduction of the artists and refreshments.

Until now, the only name associated with the copies created by painters in the local Balos Atelier group has been Leonardo da Vinci.

The exhibit opened April 1 and drew an estimated 100 people for a reception.

Because of the community's positive reaction, the show has been extended until April 24, according to a press release.

Gallery hours are: Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit or call 530-926-2334.
