Dunsmuir Dogwood Daze features pancakes, pies, parade, races and more
The schedule for Dunsmuir’s annual Dogwood Daze event scheduled for Saturday, May 23, in Dunsmuir is packed full of events.
The pancake breakfast will be followed by a run-walk at 8 a.m.; a pie social; and a parade at 11 a.m.
Games for kids will be held at the Kids Park after the parade and before the soapbox derby which starts at 1 p.m. Games include worm races and gunnysack races.
Beginning at 10 a.m., the schedule calls for a Growers Market, Garden Club plant sale, handmade crafts, food, beer and drinks, ice cream, snow cones and animal adoption.
Dogwood Daze is sponsored by the City of Dunsmuir, Dunsmuir Chamber of Commerce and Pacific Power.
City Wide Yard Sale
The Chamber of Commerce has scheduled its annual City-Wide Yard Sale for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 22, 23, 24 and 25.
Residents planning to hold yard sales can be included on the city map for free by contacting the Chamber by the end of today, May 20.
Due to a clerical error in the Chamber office, those who have already submitted information for the map must re-submit the information about their garage sale for inclusion on the map.
Days and hours of their sale will be listed along with location. Businesses featuring promotions, specials or sales may also be included.
Maps will be available at the Chamber Office and participants are encouraged to have them available at their event location.

Dunsmuir Rotary Club’s annual all-you-can-eat Dogwood Daze Pancake Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at the Dunsmuir Apartments (historic Dunsmuir Hotel) located downtown.
Cost is $5 each and includes complimentary coffee. Sausage, scrambled eggs and milk are available for a small additional charge.
Proceeds go towards The Backpack Food Program which provides free breakfast and lunch to Dunsmuir students.

The Dunsmuir Railroad Depot Historical Society’s 7th annual Pie Social begins at 10 a.m. and runs until pies are sold out, held at the Dunsmuir Museum/Depot on Sacramento Avenue. Check out the gift shop too.
Buy a slice of pie, $3; a whole pie, $20; or build-a-pie, $25. It is requested that no pets be brought into the pie area.

Flower Show and Garden Tour
The Dunsmuir Garden Club’s annual Flower Show is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Siskiyou Arts Museum, 5824 Dunsmuir Avenue. Admission is free.
Entries should be brought to SAM between 7:30 and 9 a.m. Judging is from 9 to 10 a.m., when ribbons will be awarded and the show opens to the public.
Categories include flower arrangements, favorite houseplants, flowering trees and shrubs, potted outdoor plants, that one favorite bloom, bonsai and anything one wishes to enter. Surprises are welcome.
Garden Tour tickets will be available at SAM. Cost is $10 and includes map to each of the eight gardens. For more information call 235-4025.
This event is a fundraiser for the Garden Club.
Yard Sale Fundraiser
Dunsmuir Railroad Days is having a fundraiser yard sale at 5222 Florence Loop, follow the signs, starting at 8 a.m. until items are sold or until dark. This is a part of the City-Wide Yard Sales.
There will be lots of stuff for everyone. The new 2015 Railroad Days t-shirts and buttons will also be available for purchase. Coffee and cookies will be offered to yard salers.
Proceeds from the yard sale will help with finances to fund the annual three-day Railroad Days celebration.
