Metro Phoenix's next Eegee's is opening soon in Mesa. Here's what we know so far

Eegee’s, a fast-food restaurant known for its sandwiches, hot dogs, French fries and eponymous icy frozen fruit drinks, is in the midst of opening 12 new locations in metro Phoenix.

The Tucson-based, cult favorite debuted the first of its planned dozen locations in Gilbert this past summer. The next one, set to open in November, will be located near Crismon Road and U.S. 60 in Mesa.

The fast food chain currently has more than 20 locations in Tucson and one in Casa Grande, but for years there were none in metro Phoenix, much to the chagrin of Eegee’s evangelists.

The company opened several Valley locations in the 1980s, but within five years, the metro Phoenix restaurants closed, The Arizona Republic previously reported.

Rumors about the Tucson favorite making its way back up the I-10 began when Eegee’s announced via Facebook on Oct. 6, 2020 that there will be a new Tucson location opening in Irvington. When a commenter asked when there might be a Phoenix location, the Eegee’s account replied, “Coming in 2035.”

Turns out that the Gilbert Eegee's grand opening was five years in the making, The Republic reported.

All 12 Eegee's are scheduled to open in the Valley by the end of 2022.
