Here are five ways to have fun this weekend.

1. The big movies opening this week are “The Other Woman,” a PG-13 comedy starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton; “The Quiet Ones,” a PG-13 horror flick starring Jared Harris, Sam Claflin and Olivia Cooke; “Brick Mansions,” a PG-13 action movie starring the late Paul Walker; and “For No Good Reason,” an R documentary starring Johnny Depp, Ralph Steadman and Hunter S. Thompson.

2. The NBA and NHL playoffs are currently taking place, so if you’re looking for some intense sports action this weekend, find a game on TV. Check your paper or your favorite sports website for schedule information.

3. Saturday is the end of National Karaoke Week, so if you’ve been waiting for a chance to show off your pipes, head to a karaoke bar this weekend and participate in the fun. Even if you don’t sing great, it’s still fun!

4. Friday is Arbor Day. Many organizations around the area will be holding events such as tree plantings, so check out the paper for listings and see how you and the kids can get involved.

5. Two other nature days are this weekend: Audubon Day and National Go Birding Day, both on Saturday. Both events are designed to get people out into their parks and communities and appreciate the birds. Check the newspaper for listings, or just go out and see what birds you can find. Maybe hold a contest with several like-minded individuals to see who can take the best bird photo.
