“Heritage with Heart” is the theme for the 60th annual Weed Carnevale set for July 9-13 at Bel Air Park in Weed.

This year’s event includes a Main Street parade, junior, men and women’s bocce tournaments, softball, horseshoes, food and spirits, music and carnival rides.

Weed Carnevale is sponsored by the Weed Chamber of Commerce and organized by volunteers. It is one of the two major fundraisers for the chamber each year.

Funds from Carnevale are used to support the chamber office and its staff, provide visitor services to travelers, and support local business.

The greatest cost of the event is the rental of porta potties and in an effort to cut down on overall costs of the Carnevale, the “Weed Pots” sponsorship program was started several years ago.

Individuals and/or groups are encouraged to make a donation – of any amount, big or small – which will sponsor porta potties or “Weed Pots.”

The Adult Bocce Tournament will expand again this year, with opening for 24 teams in each category.

Tournament spots are first come, first in. Cost is $50 per team, payment will secure your application.

The Junior Bocce Tournament will be held on Thursday, July 10. Cost is $15 per person and participants get a free Carnevale t-shirt.

Advance purchase carnival ride tickets will go on sale by June 1 and can be purchase in Weed at the Chamber of Commerce, Tri County Bank, US Bank and Scott Valley Bank.

Advance discounted price is $20 per wristband; $25 when purchased at the event.
