Liberty Arts Gallery in Yreka has scheduled an opening reception for the ArtRoster artists Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

ArtRoster is a group of northern California artists who come together to paint under the guidance of artist and teacher Aleksander Balos. They utilize techniques from the Old Masters’ atelier system of the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as more contemporary methods.

The artists engage in a variety of two-dimensional media from graphite on paper to oil on canvas or wood.

Contributing artists, who reside primarily in the south county, include Aleksander Balos, Christina Campos, Diana Chakos, Marga Filip, Kim Guthrie, Lezlie Graebel, Cynthia Henderson, Allen Klug, Shery Larson, Sharon LoMonaco, Ariel Morgan, Jenny Purtle, Barbara Savarese, Linda Vivas, Lou Wandro, Michael Wecksler and Adrienne Yee.

Some are veteran artists with extensive art experience; others are new artists training under Balos’ tutelage.

Liberty Arts is located at 108 West Miner Street in Yreka. The artwork will be on display through July 25.
