Haggard concert raised $4,000 for Boles Fire recovery

Redding Civic Auditorium announced Thursday that the Dec. 14 Merle Haggard concert held there resulted in a $4,000 donation to Shasta Regional Community Foundation’s Community Disaster Relief Fund to benefit Weed.
When a video detailing the devastating impacts of the Boles Fire in Weed was played to the audience of 1,500-plus, “the room fell silent and everyone felt the weight of what this community had suffered,” according to a press release from Advance Redding (Redding Civic Auditorium).
The video’s development and production was a collaboration of several entities that included Pusher, Inc. and FireWhat, both of Dunsmuir, and Great Northern Services. To view the video and contribute to the Community Disaster Relief Fund visit: www.shastarcf.org.
Having a charitable component for the concert was important to Haggard, according to the release, which credits Redding Civic Auditorium general manager Cory McCandliss for having the idea to make a cash donation from concert proceeds to aid in Weed’s recovery efforts.
