“How Was Your Day?,” a film produced by Castle Rock School students, was named first runner-up at the 2014 Sundial Film Festival March 8 in Redding.

The film, according to information provided by Deb Harton of Castle Rock, took a comedic look at bad things happening to kids at school, then took a serious turn to make statements about teen suicide. “The message of the film was to encourage parents to talk in depth with their children as more and more teenagers face depression.”

Only two schools’ films had a showing during the festival, which is hosted by the Redding Active 20-30 Club.
