“Grease” is an odd movie with all kinds of questionable messages.

But when Olivia Newton-John died Aug. 8, what images and GIFS and memes popped up everywhere? Her, in character as Sandy, the good girl who goes bad to win over John Travolta in “Grease.”

Her performance rises above the material, clearly. And social media was filled with pictures of her as “the one that I want.” Hopelessly devoted, indeed.

And now you can see “Grease” — which came out in 1978 — on the big screen.

Harkins Theatres will honor Newton-John with screenings of “Grease” in its theaters at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14. Tickets are $5, and proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society — fitting, as Newton-John spent years fighting breast cancer, and was a tireless advocate for cancer research.

Tickets are on sale now at harkins.com.
