When Is Robin Roberts Returning to Good Morning America?
Robin Roberts says it's "a matter of weeks, not months" until she returns to the air on Good Morning America.
The co-host appeared on Monday's show, updating her health status in an interview from her apartment, and said she expects to be back on the air sometime in February.
"I'm coming home," she said. "We're talking now a matter of weeks, not months."
Roberts has been absent from Good Morning America since August, when she left to have a bone marrow transplant to treat a rare blood disorder. She said Monday that her most recent follow-up exam showed no abnormalities. "I'm so happy to be sharing this news with everybody," Roberts told the GMA audience. "We're going to take it step by step."

The first step will be a "dry run" next week, when Roberts will visit the show's Times Square studio and go through her hair and makeup routine. "My skin is very sensitive and so we have to see how it reacts to the studio lights. My vision is still a little blurry from the treatment," she explained. "All of this is getting better day by day so that is the next step."

After the dry run, Roberts plans to sit down with her doctors to talk about moving forward, keeping in mind additional factors, like her weakened immune system and the unusually high incidence of flu this season. Roberts said she has a specific date in February in mind for her return, but is keeping that private for now.
Still, she's taking her recovery one day at a time.
"I am excited, but there's a range of emotions," Roberts said Monday. "I haven't been live on television since the end of August. My heart is beating so fast right now but, you know what? It means I'm alive. I'm alive and I'm so grateful to be excited as I am and I can't wait to be back."
