A Philadelphia-based sports bar chain known for crab dishes has finally clawed into the Northern Nevada market.

Chickie's & Pete's Crab House and Sports Bar is opening its first Reno branch inside the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino on Sunday, Dec. 4.

The GSR Chickie's will become the 20th location nationwide and only the second one west of the Mississippi River. With the exception of the Las Vegas Chickie's, the restaurants are all located in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. ESPN called the crab and beer spot one of the top sports bars in North America.

Some of Chickie's signature dishes include crabfries, crinkle-cut fries sprinkled with crab spices and served with white creamy cheese sauce in true Philly fashion. Other seafood specials include mussels in red and white sauce, baby lobster tails, shrimp and Chickie's specialty Crabfeast (one pound of snow crab legs, one Dungeness crab, king crab legs and corn.

For those with whom crustaceans do not agree, Chickie's makes fine burgers, wings and Philly Cheesesteak nachos.

A night out at Chickie's will cost you. Most standard entree menu items range from about $25 to $35; however, the specialty crab platters will sting you upwards of $130. The Crabfeast costs $160 while a pound and a half of King Crab legs costs $140. Burgers and Philly cheesesteaks are about $20, unless you get the $30 lobster cheesesteak.

The GSR Chickie's is part of a $10 million renovation of the casino's sports betting section. Another $55 million in improvements to GSR is slated for this year, which will include a new Starbucks, revamped 2nd Street Express restaurant and two new food trucks to service the expanded pool.

Beginning on New Year's Eve 2022, Chickie's will present live entertainment every Saturday night, according to GSR.
