Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) will get some new neighbors with a 'Grey's Anatomy' spinoff set at a Seattle firehouse.

Grey's Anatomy is expanding its Seattle home base.

ABC Tuesday announced a spinoff of Shonda Rhimes' long-running hospital drama that will be set in a Seattle firehouse.

The network did not announce a name for the show or any cast members. No date has been set for the premiere of the new show, new show's premiere, but it could be during the 2017-18 TV season.

ABC's description of the show says it "follows a group of heroic firefighters. From the captain to the newest recruit, we follow these brave men and women as they risk their lives and their hearts both in the line of duty and off the clock."

"No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda, and Grey’s signature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spinoff,” ABC program chief Channing Dungey said in a statement accompanying the announcement.

Grey's had an earlier spinoff, Private Practice, which ran on ABC from 2007 to 2013. In that drama, a Grey's character, Dr. Addison Montgomery, ran a medical practice in Southern California.

Stacy McKee will write the script for the firehouse spinoff and be an executive producer, with Grey's executive producers Rhimes and Betsy Beers also serving as executive producers on the new series.

ABC earlier picked up another Rhimes-produced drama, For the People, for the 2017-18 season.
