Today’s Workout: This core move fits into your busy schedule
It is officially the holiday season and that usually means bigger meals and less diets. More get-togethers and less physical activity. And usually a little extra stress with all the responsibilities that come with holiday preparations.
With all that, a little physical fitness is definitely a must in the middle of the madness. Even if it’s simple, something is better than nothing.
Our move today is a scissor abdominal exercise that will be working the core, quads and inner thighs. You will need a flat surface and a mat.
Begin this exercise by lying on your back. Prop your upper body up on your forearms, engage your core, elevate and extend both legs straight out.
Once you are in position, point your toes and open your legs outward. When you bring them together, cross one foot over the other. Then return to the open position. When you cross again, use the other foot on top, alternating your feet on each cross.
Continue this scissor motion for at least 15 to 20 times. Take a short break, then return for your next set. Shoot for at least three sets.
This exercise can be modified by leaning back in a chair if it’s too difficult to lie on the floor.
This move can be incorporated into any abdominal routine or on its own.
