CHAMPAIGN -- That loud sigh of relief Sunday afternoon likely came from Illinois coach Ron Zook.
None of the four Illini football players injured in Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage -- including star freshman receiver Arrelious Benn -- are expected to miss much more than a week of practice.
Benn sprained his right shoulder and will likely return to practice later this week. He is listed as day to day. Team officials wouldn't say if Benn separated the shoulder during a tackle early in the scrimmage.
Sophomore receiver Chris James and freshman defensive tackle Josh Brent will both miss a week after spraining a knee, then be listed as day-to-day the following week.
Redshirt freshman defensive end Jerry Brown is listed as day-to-day after spraining a hip.
The Illini took a scheduled day off from the practice field, although the
team met late Sunday. The season opener against Missouri at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis is Sept. 1.
