Man accused of attacking couple after being refused beer
After being refused a beer, a man allegedly drove his vehicle into a Linwood home twice before fleeing the area, according to a report from the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident was reported Thursday morning but is said to have occurred on the evening of July 26.
A 49-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were at the home when a 29-year-old man stopped by the residence.
The younger man was said to have been intoxicated, according to the report.
He reportedly asked for a beer, but the 49-year-old resident refused to give him one. The 29-year-old was then escorted to his vehicle, officials said.
He then allegedly drove his vehicle at the 49-year-old, who was walking back to the house, according to the report.
The 49-year-old was able to move out of the way of the vehicle, and the car struck the residence.
The woman came onto the porch after hearing the commotion, and the 29-year-old man backed up his vehicle and drove into the porch, where both residents were standing, according to the report.
There were no reports of injuries. The two victims said they had been afraid for their safety.
The report does not indicate if the suspect was arrested.
