Basketball prep standout Darius Miller picks Kentucky over Illinois

Two days after Tracy Webster left a job as assistant coach at Illinois for a similar position at Kentucky, prep standout Darius Miller committed to Kentucky on Friday. Miller chose the Wildcats over Louisville after also considering Illinois and Texas.

Miller is a 6-foot-6 forward who ranks as the No. 35 recruit nationally among this year's high school senior class. Miller is considered a leading candidate for Mr. Basketball in Kentucky.

Webster played a key role in Miller's interest in Illinois. Miller's father, Brian, told the Louisville Courier Journal Webster's move to Kentucky "was a factor. But also he really like and felt comfortable with (coach Billy) Gillispie and his staff.''

Illinois doesn't have a commitment in the class of 2008.
