Toddler falls four stories in Framingham

An 18-month old girl was airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center after she fell out of the fourth-story window at the Jefferson Village apartment complex on Rte. 9 at about 4:30 p.m.

In the rear of the apartment building, Framingham Police Sgt. Victor Pereira said the extent of the girl's injuries were not known, but that she was conscious. She could be heard crying as she was placed into an ambulance.

Pereira said the young girl was playing near a window screen when she apparently pushed out the screen and then fell with it to the ground.

Pam Johnson, who lives on the first floor of the building, thought at first it might have been a doll that fell out of the window.

"I didn't quite know what it was, and then I saw it was a baby,'' Johnson said. "I just ... My God. ... My heart.''

Framingham Fire personnel took the girl by ambulance to the state police helicopter landing zone. A LifeFlight helicopter then took the child to Worcester.
