— They were St. Louis Blues on Wednesday. Today, they are Peoria Rivermen, the first wave of players cut from the parent club's NHL training camp.

The Blues sent 17 players down to Peoria, which opens its AHL camp this afternoon. They joined six more players invited to camp by the Rivermen.

The headliner cuts were wingers Jean-Guy Trudel and Charles Linglet, along with defenseman and 2006-07 captain Aaron MacKenzie and AHL All-Star goaltender Marek Schwarz.

'We're going to get into meetings this morning, then have an easy skate this afternoon to get rolling,' Rivermen coach Dave Baseggio said. 'We're going to talk about the expectations we have for the season.'

By the time the Blues are done cutting down their roster at the end of this month, the Rivermen should be a powerful AHL team. And their expectations?

'We expect to win every game,' Baseggio said. 'That sounds stupid, I know. But that's

how good teams prepare and approach it. This is going to be a competitive situation in Peoria."
