Air show to return to Monroe County
The United States Air Force Thunderbirds will take to the skies at the Greater Rochester International Airport on July 26 and 27 for the 2008 Airshow, County Executive Maggie Brooks announced today. The Golden Knights, the United States Army parachute team, will also perform.
“We are thrilled that the Airshow is returning to Monroe County and we are very excited to have the opportunity to welcome back the Thunderbirds and the Golden Knights,” said Brooks. “
The Thunderbirds were the featured act at the last Airshow in 2005. The Golden Knights last performed in Rochester in 2002.
The Thunderbirds are the official air demonstration team of the United States Air Force. They are stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. The Golden Knights are the official parachute team of the United States Army. They are stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
Both teams released their 2008 schedules today at the International Council of Airshows in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Further details on the 2008 Airshow will be available early next year.
