En brochette (ehn broh SHEHT)

Brochette is the French word for skewer or stick. En brochette means food cooked on a skewer. Popular examples include shrimp en brochette and lamb en brochette and oysters en brochette. The meat is usually grilled or broiled.

In other cultures, this dish would be called shish kebab, satay or souvlaki.
