Thurston fire leaves 3 homeless

Three people were forced out into the frigid weather Sunday night after a fire destroyed their single-story home on Savona Campbell Road.

The fire likely started in the attached garage of the home at 5515 Savona Campbell Road. Fire investigators had not released an exact cause as of Monday afternoon.

from several departments that responded to the blaze, fire officials said.

By Monday afternoon the charred remains of two vehicles were all that were left standing in the garage.

The home's windows were blown out, the roof caved in and possessions were strewn on the front lawn.

Some of the siding had been ripped from the structure and the inside was completely charred.

No one was injured in the blaze, although Alan and Dolores Crooker and an unidentified child were left homeless.

The Thurston, Savona, Campbell, Coopers Plains, North Corning, Painted Post and Addison fire departments were called to the scene to assist in extinguishing the blaze.
