Rain, snow threat forces flood advisory on Rock River
The Rock River at Rockton is under a flood advisory issued by the National Weather Service in light of rain and snow that could fall today.
At 5:30 a.m., the river’s stage was 7.6 feet. Its flood stage is 10 feet. The weather service predicts that the river will rise to near 8.5 feet by Sunday afternoon.
The flood advisory will continue until Jan. 17.
There’s a 60 percent chance of rain, mostly falling after noon and turning into snow by nightfall. Less than a half-inch will fall during the day.
By night, we could see between 1 and 3 inches of snow accumulation. The chance for snow is 70 percent for after 9 p.m.
Flurries will remain for Friday.
Today’s high will be 39 degrees, according to the weather service.
