Dobbs, Skouby recommended as Newton prosecutor
Bill Dobbs’ and Jake Skouby’s names will be submitted to Gov. Matt Blunt for his consideration of a replacement for outgoing Newton County Prosecutor Scott Watson, the Newton County Republican Central Committee voted Thursday night.
Dobbs, 53, has been an assistant county prosecutor since 2000. He was formerly the chief juvenile officer for the 40th Circuit Court, which serves Newton and McDonald counties.
Skouby, 45, has been an assistant prosecutor since 1999. He formerly served as an attorney in the Jasper County Public Defender’s Office for 10 years.
The committee also considered a third candidate, Neosho attorney Anne Wells Butler, 41.
Watson's resignation is effective Friday.
