Drive-by perverts hit Cambridge

Two women reported being accosted by exhibitionist perverts driving on Cambridge streets in the last two weeks.

A 39-year-old Newton woman told police she was walking to her car at the intersection of Garden Street and Appian Way Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. when a driver in a small, gray car slowed down to about 5 mph and pulled up next to her.

When the driver turned on the interior light inside his car, the victim allegedly saw the man had his pants and underwear pulled down and was masturbating, according to police reports.

The woman told police the driver was an older, nicely dressed white man with silver hair, who made eye contact and smiled at her. The victim told police the suspect drove away north on Garden Street once she realized what he was doing.

This is the second report of a man masturbating in front of victims in public in less than two weeks.

A 28-year-old Cambridge woman reported a similar incident in Central Square Dec. 30 at 7:15 a.m.

The victim told police she was standing outside the McDonald’s at the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Douglass Street waiting for the fast food restaurant to open for the day when a man driving a white taxi with green writing on it pulled over and asked her what time McDonald’s opened.

“I can’t hear you. Come over here,” the driver allegedly said when the victim told him the restaurant opened at 7:30 a.m.

When the victim walked closer to the cab, she could see the man masturbating through the open passenger window, according to police reports. The victim was so shocked, she quickly walked back to the front door of McDonald’s, according to police reports.

The driver allegedly stayed parked at the curb and the victim reportedly heard him grunting and moaning loudly until he finally drove away west on Mass. Ave. about 10 minutes later, according to police reports.

The suspect is described as a 45- to 50-year-old white man with a heavy build and a very large stomach, brown hair that is curly on the sides, a thick brown mustache and a couple days’ beard growth on his chin.
