Qualifying families can have their income tax returns filed for free at various locations throughout Illinois.
In a news conference today, Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn and the Center for Economic Progress promoted the services, which offer free tax filing for families with incomes less than $40,000 and individuals who make less than $15,000.
The center’s primary focus is to make sure families receive the earned income tax credit.
In Peoria, the Carver Community Center, 710 W. 3rd St., offers the free service from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays.
