Human remains, blue garbage can found in Chicago
Investigators are searching an open field at 34th and Kedzie where human remains were discovered on Friday, according to reports.
According to a press release from the Lyons police department, a Lyons environmental inspector found the remains "during his daily duties of inspecting construction sites" and called his supervisors.
According to the release, the inspector observed what he believed to be a human foot and leg. He also reported a blue garbage can near the area of where the remains were observed. According to reports, the body might be that of a child.
An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday morning, said a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Lyons Village Manager Roy Witherow was not immediately available for comment.
