A close look at gator, snake at South Shore Science Center

The Patriot Ledger

With a timid hand, 2-year-old Skylar Page reached out and petted the American alligator that dangled before her. Skylar, of Norwell, was one of nearly 100 people who filled the South Shore Natural Science Center on Sunday for a look at the scaly and slithering guests brought by Michael Ralbovsky.

Ralbovsky, a herpetologist with Rainforest Reptile Shows, hosted “Reptiles Rock!” at the nature center. The show taught children about reptiles and endangered species.

Many of the children also braved flitting tongues and sharp teeth to get face time with the reptiles, including the alligator and a boa constrictor.
